Liannex is active in the trade and distribution of construction materials. Core to this is cement, followed by gypsum, clinker, cement aggregate, scrap iron, crushed stone and manufactured sand. A result of the rapid growth in the Asian economy in the 1980s, the rapid demand for housing and commercial–industrial development led expanding demand of construction materials that Liannex began to trade.

Cement
Together with coal, cement is the other key complement trade commodity. Liannex is currently one of the largest cement importers and distributors in Singapore. Beginning in 1993, the company became was the first sole distributor for Negeri Sembilan Cement to the Singapore market under their flagship NS Cement brand. Established in 1975, Negeri Sembilan today produces four brands, Blue Lion, Blue Lion Composite, NS Composite and the latter. In addition to NS Cement, Liannex markets two other brands of cement—Tasek Cement and YTL Cement—in Singapore.
Cement Aggregates
Liannex has imported aggregates to Singapore since 2007. Aggregates are an indispensable ingredient in ready-mix concrete, asphalt, and mortar. Accounting for approximately 60% to 75% of ready-mix concrete’s volume, aggregates strongly influence concrete’s freshly mixed and hardened properties. Aggregates not only increase concrete’s strength, but also can make the mix more compact, enabling applications such as weatherproofing and heat retention. They can further contribute to concrete’s aesthetic qualities. For example, sand gives surface treatments their brightness.

Many scale construction projects such as the Singapore Mass Rapid Transit (SMRT), government underground works and commercial–industrial over-ground construction projects employ cement supplied by Liannex. In large part due to also an efficient distribution network, Liannex claims a very strong customer base.

Other Construction Materials
Crushed Stone & Manufactured Sand
Liannex has traded stone and sand from Malaysia to Singapore since 1995.These construction materials are obtained by rock-mining and further crushing and mesh-sizing to specifications. Manufactured sand, as it name implies, is obtained by fine-crushing. Sources of crushed stone can be igneous, sedimentary, or metamorphic. Uses are in the construction sector as filling matrices.
Gypsum & Anhydrite
Gypsum is a precursor to the finished boards and panels. Liannex first supplied natural gypsum from Thailand in 1998.
Liannex trades both anhydrite (anhydrous gypsum) and natural gypsum. Anhydrite—anhydrous gypsum—is distinguishable from gypsum by its higher specific gravity and hardness.
